Chester's Way

Bibliographic Information: Henkes, Kevin. (1988). Chester's Way. New York, NY: Greenwillow Books.

Brief Annotation: Chester and Wilson are best friends and do everything in the same way. Then Lilly moves into the neighborhood, with her own way of doing things. Chester and Wilson avoid making friends with Lilly, until she saves them from torment with her different way. Together Chester and Wilson learn that doing things differently is lots of fun.

Genre: Storybook

Rating/Response: 4 out of 4. I think that we can all relate to this book on multiple levels. We have all found friends just like us, and friends who are very different from us.

One question I would ask before a read aloud: Are your friends just like you, or different?
